Inking Another Contract
Shortly after the Boss Bailey signing the Denver Broncos signed another free-agent. I bet money you haven’t heard about him. His name is Edell Shepherd and he has spent 3 seasons with the Buccaneers and 2 seasons with the Texans.
There is a good reason you haven’t heard about him. He had as a receiver only 13 receptions, 163 yards, and 1 touchdown. So the reason we grabbed him from the free-agent pool was he is a decent kick returner.
“In 2005, he returned 20 kickoffs for 414 yards — an average of 20.7 yards per runback. A year later in Houston, he improved his kickoff average to 23.2 yards on 17 returns, but fumbled twice.” Denver Broncos.com reported.
We have been looking for a returner over the years. Champ Bailey is very capable but we have decided it is too risky for him. Last season we used Glenn Martinez mainly as our returner who had limited success as the season went on.
He totaled 330 yards and 1 fumble.
