Well That Took Long Enough

2008 April 24

Is it just me or does it feel like in terms of length the Democratic primaries are nothing compared to the trade talks between the Jets and the Broncos. but those talks came to a close today as we finally traded for Dewayne Robertson.

Dewayne Robertson has one of the worst knees in the league right now and has been passed over by many teams after failing physicals and just not playing well enough. But that was no reason to not trade for him in Mike Shanahans views.

All we had to give up was a late round pick on this weekends NFL Draft and a conditional one for next year of he plays long enough.

Robertson has been in contract talks with the Broncos for ages and has finally closed a deal that both the Broncos and the Jets agree on. To make room for him we were forced to rid ourselves of guard Norm Katnik.

“Robertson had two years left on his old contract that included more than $18 million worth of base salaries combined as well as a $3 million roster bonus in June.”

It is surprising we signed him after he failed a physical in March. Now it looks clear we will draft an OT in the first round. After signing two WRs and a DT most of our needs our covered.

Robertson will probably be secured a starting job if he performs well enough in our Training Camp. Though he will have a better chance then he would with the Eagles who seemed to show interest with him earlier this month.

Our D-line looks improved and ready for next season now.
