Starting QB Jay Cutler this week was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He has needed to use insulin to help treat it and now is officially on it regularly. He wears a pump on his stomach right now.

Though the Broncos say they are perfectly ready to take all possible measures to help monitor the Quarterbacks two year playing career. The medical center has said they are ready to treat the disease.

Cutler stated that was the reason for his weakness and his consistent lack of weight. In October he lost 8-10 pounds. Now he has been having lots of trouble lifting weights and running. In an interview he claimed ”Something was not right, I’m losing all this weight, I have no strength, I can’t run very much, I can’t lift at all. Luckily, we figured out what it was.”

He will need to take high levels insulin on a regular basis and have to watch his diet closely.

Cutler quoted “It’s very treatable.” So the franchise and himself seems very positive about his condition. The diabetes also affected his vision. So that his not actually a problem with his play. This is easily treatable and actually good that we know how to fix it.

His diabetes means that his body is not able to produce the insulin and needs to have attached to his stomach.

Another Broncos player known as Mike Sinclair played DE and he spent his entire career playing with the disease. Jay Cutler said that he was not the first player to have it and not the last.
