HOT & NOT:

HOT: Ryan Clady is playing very well. He still has not let up more than .5 of a sack and after winning the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week Award he deserves to be recognized as hot. Clady will have a challenge going up against veteran Julius Peppers but you can bet that he will do just fine and continue his hot streak.

NOT: Nate Webster after coming back from this injury was on the field but you could not tell so because he only assisted on a tackle all day. Webster really needs to step up this week against the Panthers or else our defense will be absolutely run over.

HOT: Jonathan Stewart is doing a great job for the Panthers and has finally worked out his place in the Panthers run game. Playing second banana to DeAngelo Williams was at first hurting Stewart but he has found his place in the run game and how to put up great stats in the Panthers run game with Williams.

NOT: Dwayne Jarrett has not lived up to his draft status and he continues to prove why after having only 3 receptions over the past 3 games for a total of 22 yards. He has been very weak lately and it continues his string of underachievement and not living up to what everyone expected of him.

OVERVIEW:

As I am writing this overview I am watching NFL Network and everyone is choosing the Panthers in this game. They have good reason to but it should be fun watching NFL Network being proved wrong because I know that the Broncos can and will win this one. But don’t think that this will not be the hardest game of the season.

Jay Cutler is going to have to take charge this week of this great offense. Without Peyton Hillis he is going to really have to play at the top of his game. Vic Carruci said that the well of Broncos Running backs from this year will have to go dry sometime. Lies all lies. Tatum Bell will have a decent game but he is putting more pressure on Cutler.

Of course the big reason people think we will lose this game is because of the great Panthers Run game. We have played some tough Running backs over the last few games and we have held most of them under 100 yards. The difference this time is that they have two great Running backs in both DeAngelo Williams who is having a career year and also rookie Jonathan Stewart.

Expect them to use DeAngelo Williams more than Stewart. He is more elusive and can break tackles. When we go up against Running Backs who can break tackles very well we fall to their mercy. Think Thomas Jones, and Larry Johnson. Our biggest hope is that we can get D.J Williams and Nate Webster out on the field. They are strong tacklers who could help shut down the run.

Jake Delhomme we also need to consider. But we need to consider how to have him hurt the Panthers by throwing Interceptions. So here is my Defensive Gameplan: First off we need to have Dre’ Bly play tight on Steve Smith. We do not want him 5 yards away from him. I want him to play as tight on him as possible. Also we need to put Karl Paymah on him too.

On Mushin we need simply Josh Bell. Then have Josh Barrett stay back away to stop the big play and have Marlon McCree do the same thing. Have all of our Linebackers play as they usually do and put four men on the line to blitz. If we stick to that plan we can force Interceptions and stop the run game too.
